The Only Child Olympics

began as an effort to encourage the drive and determination shared by those raised without siblings. Far too often, only children (and their parents) are met with raised eyebrows, stereotypes, and frankly, inconsiderate questions based upon pervasive negative stereotypes about those raised by themselves. We are special, not selfish. We may not have inside jokes with our brothers and sisters, but we take our friendships very seriously. And when we see another Only Child Olympian, it’s like meeting a relative! (Maybe even better!)

It’s not a game, but it is a competition. So many of us didn’t know how fast, how funny or how smart we were until we left the house. It kind of reminds us of the 2016 Rio Olympics when the small island nation of Tuvalu sent one lone athlete to compete. What an honor to have the support of an entire nation, the resources of a population dedicated to and hopeful about you!

Not an Only Child? How did you get in here? Well, we’ll forgive you—and your siblings—if you share the gift of OCO with your favorite Only Child. Our apparel makes the perfect gift!
